If scopes were vehicles, this thing would be an old-school Toyota Land Cruiser. Not the flashiest thing at the range, not covered in gimmicks, and probably not what the Instagram crowd is drooling over this week — but it’s overbuilt, dependable, and has a reputation for just doing its job for a very long time. SWFA built a following because these scopes are known for excellent tracking, repeatable adjustments, durability, and very solid glass for the money. The turrets actually move the reticle where they’re supposed to, which sounds like a low bar until you’ve owned enough scopes. And this is the HD version, so the glass is legitimately very good. Is it Nightforce-level glass? No. I’m not going to lie to you and tell you a $700 scope is secretly a $2,500 scope wearing sweatpants. But it’s a hell of a lot closer than the price difference would make you think. The image is bright, sharp, and clear enough that you’ll spend more time blaming your shooting than blaming the optic. The MIL-Quad reticle is clean and useful without looking like someone dumped a trigonometry exam into your field of view. It’s FFP, so the MIL subtensions stay correct throughout the magnification range, whether you’re holding, ranging, or dialing. The 5-20x range is about perfect for a practical long-range optic. Enough field of view on the low end, plenty of magnification on the top end, and no completely unnecessary 47x setting for checking whether the guy three counties over shaved that morning. I originally bought this for my .338 Lapua, because a scope with a reputation for toughness and reliable tracking made perfect sense on a rifle like that. Naturally, I then never actually shot the rifle and bought a much more expensive optic instead. So apparently it’s not the Land Cruiser I’m taking to the end of the world, because I’m selling it. My decision-making should not be taken as an indictment of the scope. It includes AADmount scope caps, a quick-throw lever, and a Vortex bubble level. It was previously mounted on a 6.5 Creedmoor and is in very good condition. If you want a scope that puts its money into mechanical reliability, tracking, glass, and durability rather than marketing fluff, this is a hell of a lot of optic for the money. $670 shipped.
